Getting Your Contact Lenses
Before you’re considered a candidate for contact lenses, you’ll need to have an eye exam. A thorough exam will help your optometrist determine what prescription you may need, and if your eyes are healthy for contact lens use.
Following the eye exam, your optometrist will fit you with a pair of contact lenses that match your needs while still comfortable to wear. During the fitting process, your optometrist will take detailed measurements of your eye’s corneal parameters, including its shape and size.
After your optometrist has fitted a pair of contact lenses for you, the next step is to take home a trial pair to determine how well they work for you “in the field.” Your eye care team will also teach you how to properly insert, remove, use, and maintain your contact lenses to ensure they last and remain comfortable.
After a little bit of time, you’ll have a follow-up appointment to discuss how well your contacts performed during the trial period.
