The Importance of Eye Exams
Eye exams are comfortable, easy, and, most of all, completely comprehensive. You may discover new issues with your eyes or vision throughout your life that could make it hard to see or hard to see comfortably. Through an eye exam, your optometrist will be able to assess not only the quality and acuity of your vision but also your eyes’ overall health.
But how do you know when to have an eye exam?
If you’re between the ages of 18 and 64, the AOA recommends having an eye exam every 2 years. However, we recommend annual exams unless you are between the ages of 25-40 and do not wear glasses or contacts at all, or more frequently if your eyes are considered at-risk.
If you’re over the age of 65, the AOA recommends undergoing an eye exam every year, whether you’re high-risk or not. Around this age, eye diseases like age-related macular degeneration can develop and rob you of your sight.
